Description: "Owning the Risk – Helping Organizational Decision-makers Understand the Meaning Behind the Words" – within banks and the larger financial services sector, who owns the risk, and why? And what does 'owning the risk' even mean? This webinar will explore best practices for cultivating trust, getting executive buy-in, and enabling actual intent behind a risk management concept often misunderstood by key internal stakeholders.
Program Level: Basic
Prerequisites Required: None Required
Advanced Preparation: Non-Required
Field of Study: Specialized Knowledge
Learning Objectives:
Attendees can expect to learn the following:
a. - What is risk ownership?
b. - What are the obstacles to genuine risk ownership?
c. - For FCC practitioners, how best to approach conversations around risk ownership?
d. - What factors inhibit constructive cross-functional dialogue about risk ownership? How can they be overcome?
e. - What are some of the best practices around creating a sustainable culture of risk ownership?
Agenda:
The purpose of the webinar is to empower financial crimes compliance (FCC) practitioners in the financial services space with ideas and best practices needed to lead difficult conversations with colleagues responsible for the creation of both revenue and risk – senior business leaders setting the tone for their teams. For FCC professionals, understanding competing priorities, the real incentives of individuals and teams, and what communication tactics are truly effective can make the difference between a confrontational relationship with key internal stakeholders versus a relationship based on a common appreciation of risk, risk ownership, and organizational risk appetite.

Group Internet-Based Attendance Policy:
Although the ACFE New Jersey 9, Inc. acknowledges that it is the participant’s responsibility to report the appropriate number of credits earned, it consistently maintains a process to monitor individual attendance at group programs to guarantee the correct allocation of CPE credits. The organization recognizes that a participant’s self-certification of attendance alone is insufficient. When conducting group internet-based programs, three polling questions per CPE credit are implemented to establish a real-time monitoring mechanism that verifies participant engagement during the course. These three polling questions per CPE credit are administered at sufficiently frequent intervals and are unpredictable, ensuring that attendees remain engaged throughout the session. Attendee participation is tracked via SLIDO, an application that facilitates real-time engagement through live polls, Q&As, and quizzes. It is the responsibility of attendees to accurately report CPE credits based on their actual time attending the sessions. While the ACFE New Jersey 9, Inc. recognizes that it is the participant’s responsibility to report the appropriate number of credits earned, the ACFE New Jersey 9, Inc. continually maintains a process to monitor individual attendance at group programs to ensure the correct number of CPE credits are assigned.
